Have nothing to do with the [evil] things that people do, things that belong to the darkness. Instead, bring them out to the light... [For] when all things are brought out into the light, then their true nature is clearly revealed...

NY Times Calls 38-Year-Old Pro-Gun Group an “Emerging Upstart”

With the background checks bill stalled in the Senate, the New York Times was surprised to learn that it may largely be due to the determined and noisy efforts of a pro-gun advocacy group less than one-tenth the size of the National Rifle Association (NRA) –

When George Soros Dies, Who Will Run His Money, and for What Purposes?

This article was published at The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Friday, January 20, 2017:

Speculation abounds. George Soros (shown) turned 86 last August, and the clock is ticking. He lost $1 billion betting against Trump in November, but still has $25 billion left. When he meets his Maker (likely for the first time), who will drive the billionaire’s Wells Fargo wagon?

Out of his five kids, two are heirs apparent:

Alexander Soros, Scion of Billionaire George Soros, Being Groomed to Take Control

Alexander Soros

According to Media Research Center (MRC,) Alexander Soros (shown), one of billionaire George Soros’ five children, opened his father’s checkbook and gave more than $4.5 million to various Democratic campaign and political action committees last year. Between August and November the Soros scion wrote four checks to Senator Harry Reid’s Senate Majority PAC totaling $3.5 million. The other checks went to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Democratic National Committee Services Corporation, and other left-wing groups and politicians.

Although it’s George’s money, Alexander is making the decisions on a major part of his father’s estimated $25 billion. And it appears to be part of a plan to move Alexander into the driver’s seat when his father, age 86, passes from the scene. Dan Gainer, the MRC vice president who tracks the numbers, told the Washington Times: “Alexander Soros is following in both his father’s and brother’s footsteps — going left.” He added:

In his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, President-elect Donald Trump said: “The replacement of our beloved Justice Scalia will be a person of similar views, principles and judicial philosophies…. This will be one of the most important issues decided by this election.”

With the election decided, reality is beginning to set in on both sides of the aisle.

Chuck Schumer Seeks “Common Ground” With Trump

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Monday, November 21, 2016:

Senator Charles Schumer

Senator Charles Schumer

During a press interview at his office on Friday, New York Democratic Senator Charles Schumer said that he had spoken two or three times with President-elect Donald Trump: “He’s called. He’s friendly. The word is that he thinks he can work with me, but we’ll see. The jury’s [still] out.”

Schumer, just reelected for his fourth term as senator, will become the Senate minority leader in the 115th Congress as Harry Reid, the present Senate minority leader, is retiring. The Wall Street Journal characterized the interview as an effort by Schumer to seek “common ground” with Trump. Other members of the press weren’t so charitable.

Schumer was feisty,

The Godfather, Part II

In a scene from The Godfather, Part II that resonates even today, Michael Corleone says: “My father taught me many things here. He taught me in this room. He taught me; ‘keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.’”

Is that what The Donald is doing in romancing the Senator Minority Leader to be, Senator Chuck Schumer? On Friday Schumer told the press that he has already received two or three phone calls from Trump: “He’s called. He’s friendly. The word is that he thinks he can work with me, but we’ll see. The jury’s [still] out.”

On Sunday Schumer said that the jury has returned with a verdict:

Override of Obama Veto Likely to Harm American Security Interests

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Friday, September 30, 2016:

Senator Ted Cruz could hardly contain himself as he celebrated the Senate’s first successful override of an Obama veto on Wednesday:

I applaud my colleagues for joining together and with the American people to stand against President Obama’s attempt to deprive terror victims from receiving full recourse under the law. Our nation has a duty to ensure that American victims of terrorism, first and foremost the 9/11 families, are able to receive justice.

Congress, by passing JASTA, will do just that and will continue to protect our brave men and women in uniform who defend our freedoms and way of life across the globe. I encourage my colleagues in the House to follow the Senate in overriding the president’s veto and enact JASTA into law.

The House followed shortly thereafter, overriding Obama’s veto 349-77.

JASTA – the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act – has been languishing ever since it was introduced by Senators Chuck Schumer and John Cornyn in 2009 in response to pressure from families of victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The bill got traction as the election drew nearer and

Retiring Senator Harry Reid Turns on His Former Supporter, the NRA

Following the failure of any of the four gun bills presented earlier this week in the aftermath of the Orlando massacre, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (shown) told the Senate how he really feels about the National Rifle Association:

Here is a little secret for my Republican colleagues: the NRA doesn’t care about you. It doesn’t care about your constituents. It doesn’t care about the constitutional rights of its followers. The NRA and its leadership care about two things: making money for gun manufacturers and making money for the NRA.

The decades-long love affair that has benefited both the NRA and Harry Reid is now officially over. NRA spokeswoman Jennifer Baker confirmed it:

Seeing an opportunity that couldn’t be wasted, Representative John Lewis (D-Ga.) led a Progressive sit-in that brought to a halt the proceedings of the House of Representatives this week.

Lewis, a longtime radical revolutionary with Communist Party affiliations, led the sit-in, blaming it on Republicans’ unwillingness to bring to the floor a vote on expanding background checks and adding suspected terrorists to a “no fly/no-buy” watchlist. The sit-in began at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and, at its peak, numbered nearly 170 House Democrats (along with several Democrat senators) before it petered out around 3 a.m. today (Thursday).

Some called it grandstanding while others called it

In the grand scheme of things, New York Democrat Senator Charles Schumer’s excessive anti-gun rant at his news conference on Monday means nothing at all. Anti-gun Senator Schumer Calls for Investigation Into iPhone-shaped Gun

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Wednesday, April 6, 2016:

Senator Charles Schumer

In a news conference on Monday anti-gun Senator Charles Schumer announced he had asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (known as ATF) to investigate a firearm that looks, from a distance, like an Apple iPhone 6. Schumer rolled out all the scary words he could think of in his attempt to describe it: deadly, nefarious, outrageous, threatening, dangerous, and a disaster about to happen:

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid must be proud. The health insurers behind ObamaCare are losing money and some are considering leaving the monstrosity altogether. Many of the co-ops that sprang up during the rollout have closed their doors, despite receiving millions in government aid.

Harry knew exactly what he was going when he built it. In an interview at “Nevada Week in Review” in 2013, before the rollout, Reid said:

The results for 2015 are in. The losses health insurers experienced following the rollout of the so-called Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA, otherwise known as ObamaCare) in 2014 got even worse. Seventy percent of insurers lost money on individual health plans, according to McKinsey and Company, the global management consulting firm. And it isn’t likely to improve any in 2016.

Seeking once again to take advantage of an opportunity, anti-gun Democrats are using the horrific massacre in Paris to revive a moribund bill by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to remove precious rights from anyone on the government’s “no-fly” or “terrorist watch list.”

Democrat Strategy to Take Back the Senate: Attack the Koch Brothers

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Friday, November 20, 2015:

Upon learning that the Koch brothers, Charles (shown) and David, and their network of conservative donors, were planning on spending upwards of $750 million over the next two election cycles, Harry Reid, the Senate minority leader and harsh critic of the Kochs, enlisted the help of two hard-left political strategists to respond. David Brock, the founder of Media Matters in 2004 and the super-PAC American Bridge in 2010, joined with Geoff Garin, president of Hart Research Associates, to build a plan for Democrats to take back the Senate in 2016.

Brock investigates strategy via focus groups while Garin

Boehner Cuts Deal With White House; National Debt to Reach $20 Trillion

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Tuesday, October 27, 2015:

After working privately over the past several weeks with members of the White House staff, as well as with Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner succeeded late Monday night in cobbling together a deal that gives everyone in Washington what they want but leaves the bill for the taxpayer. By the time the dust settles, the deal will cause the country’s national debt to reach $20 trillion within the next 18 months, if not sooner.

Doing an end run around usual House procedures, Boehner

Obamnesty: A Tyrant’s Tool to Transform America

This article was just published in the latest subscribers-only issue of the McAlvany Intelligence Advisor newsletter:

This writer has frequently noted the accuracy of John Adams’ summary and dangers of the Founders’ Constitution when he said that it “was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” It was designed, as Thomas Jefferson noted, to keep criminals like Barack Obama from taking control:

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.

During the Constitutional convention there was little debate over the issue of immigration and so those chains were not forged with the result that the states, up until 1808, were to determine their own immigration policies, and afterwards to defer to the national government.

Consequently, when Obama asked his henchmen, Jeh Johnson and Eric Holder, to find ways he could implement the DREAM Act without having to wait for Congress to enact it, they succeeded, using the president’s discretion allowed by the Constitution under Article I, Section 4, that “he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”

One of the tools of a tyrant is using language to hide his true intents. For years Obama has disclaimed any such powers as he is now exercising. As a candidate back in March, 2008, he said:

Five whistleblowers from the Department of Homeland Security related details to ABC News on Tuesday about how the “wealthy immigrant visa program” called EB-5 has been consistently and deliberately subverted to allow criminals, spies, and terrorists access to permanent residency in the United States without going through regular channels.

The EB-5 program, first begun in 1990 as a way to invite wealthy foreigners to invest in the United States and then receive permanent resident status, has been used for years by politicians to reward themselves and their friends. Those rewards included

GOP Folds, Helps Democrats to Pass the CRomnibus bill

This article first appeared at The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Wednesday, December 17, 2014:

If the Guinness Book of Records had a category for “political taradiddles,” this from Barbara Mikulski, a Democrat from Maryland and the Senate’s Appropriations Committee Chairman, would certainly qualify for its top ten. After all was said and done, after all the back-room deals had been completed, after Senator Ted Cruz’s last minute attempt to stall the vote by claiming that the CRomnibus bill would unconstitutionally fund Obama’s immigration executive order without debate was quashed 74-22, Mikulski exulted:

It is remarkable in today’s era of slam-down politics that we, working on this committee, have been able to set aside our differences, work across the aisle, work across the Dome, to find a way to compromise without capitulation on principles.

The only word with validity that she used was “capitulation” – total and complete surrender – by the Republicans, the party still perceived by many to be the party of small government, fiscal responsibility, and personal liberty. The sell-out was nearly complete,
