Have nothing to do with the [evil] things that people do, things that belong to the darkness. Instead, bring them out to the light... [For] when all things are brought out into the light, then their true nature is clearly revealed...

Professors Bret Weinstein and his wife, Heather Heying, received $500,000, $450,000 directly to the couple and $50,000 to pay their attorneys’ fees.

Naturally, the college claims that the Weinsteins’ complaints were without merit:

Senior White House officials, speaking anonymously to Reuters on Sunday, said that the Trump administration is considering various potential sanctions against the socialist Venezuelan regime headed up by Marxist Nicolas Maduro. Reuters assured its readers that the administration is just considering them, and there is nothing imminent planned — at least for the moment.

The present “package” of possible sanctions includes

LNG (liquefied natural gas) coming from the United States is already changing the energy equation in Europe and is likely to upset its political equation as well.

When the Independence, a floating gas terminal, arrived at the port city of Klaipeda, Lithuania, in October, 2014, it was met with parades, military salutes, and crowds waving Lithuanian flags. At the welcoming ceremony President Dalia Grybauskaite exclaimed:

Collection of Chinese renminbi yuan banknotes.

In his 2001 paper “Building Better Global Economic BRICs,” chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management Jim O’Neill developed the acronym for Brazil, Russia, India and China. He made the case that the BRICs symbolized the shift of global economic power away from developed nations, estimating that they might overtake the G7 nations – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States – as early as 2027.

Modifications were necessary to dampen O’Neill’s enthusiasm, with GS recalculating that it wouldn’t happen before 2050. By December 2012 the Council on Foreign Relations, in itsForeign Affairs publication, was forced to refute even that modest projection:

Following a meeting between Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.) and the chairman and vice-chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on Wednesday morning, the FDIC issued some changes in how it will enforce Operation Chokepoint.

Luetkemeyer, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, and Representative Darrel Issa (R-Calif.) who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, have focused on the abuses, intimidation, and blackmail tactics used in the Operation Chokepoint program to shut down retail gun shops, along with payday lenders and other businesses suffering from what the Obama administration calls “reputational” risks.

In what Kelsey Harkness, a journalist at the Daily Signal, called “dramatic steps” in the battle to dismantle the program, she said that Luetkemeyer told her in a telephone conversation:

Obama Pokes Putin in the eye; Putin Pokes back

President George W. Bush of the United States ...

Putin yuks it up with another tyrant

Like two bullies taunting each other in a schoolyard, US President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been trading barbs since March. In response to Russia’s incursions into the Ukraine, on March 20 Obama blacklisted a bank and several wealthy businessmen with close ties to Putin. Obama targeted Sergei Ivanoff, the president’s chief of staff, Gennady Timchenko, a billionaire investor linked to Putin, and Yuri Kovalchuk, who is the personal banker for Russia’s leaders including Mr. Putin himself. At the time, Obama opened the door for additional sanctions against core elements of the Russian economy if Putin didn’t behave himself, including the oil and natural gas industries, metals and mining industries, and engineering and financial services industries. Taunted Obama at the time:

The Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) exhibited its considerable and growing clout by forcing the cancellation of at least two showings of the film “Honor Diaries”, one scheduled for last week at the University of Michigan, the other at the University of Illinois. The film, a 2013 documentary that explores violence against women in “honor-based” societies (read: Muslim countries) through the eyes of nine women with personal experience with that violence, premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival in October 2013. One month later it won the Interfaith Award for Best Documentary at the St. Louis International Film Festival. In December it was featured on DirecTV’s Something to Talk About film series on its Audience channel.

The film focuses on three major crimes of violence committed by those societies, including

Trayvon Martin was no innocent

On Friday President Obama, in an informal briefing in the Rose Garden instead of the usual press room of the White House, reiterated his earlier statement that Trayvon Martin, the victim in the Sanford, Florida shooting in February 2012, “could have been my son.” Said Obama:

You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot I said that this could have been my son.  Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago.

And then he expanded on his remarks
