Have nothing to do with the [evil] things that people do, things that belong to the darkness. Instead, bring them out to the light... [For] when all things are brought out into the light, then their true nature is clearly revealed...

Fox News president’s email to his people about the James Rosen affair

Here is Roger Ailes’ email, if you care to look. He says some nice things that I’m certain were reassuring to his employees who are probably asking themselves whenever they send an email or make a phone call, “am I being watched?”

Let’s remember who Roger Ailes is. He is

Kicking the Fiscal Cliff Can … Again

John Stossel is a favorite of mine. I watch his show whenever I can. He is fearless, even when faced with that intimidating buffoon Bill O’Reilly.

Stossel not only thinks Congress will kick the can on the Fiscal Cliff, he even explains how it is likely to happen:

Will Congress act?

It will! I see the future: The politicians will meet and fret and hold press conferences and predict disaster. Then they’ll reach a deal.

It will just postpone the reckoning, but they’ll congratulate themselves, and the media will move on.

Ron Paul sees what’s

I Agree with Bill O’Reilly for Once!

I watch Bill O’Reilly on TV for one reason and one reason only: to see who his guests are. I like John Stossel and Dick Morris. If they aren’t going to appear, I turn him off. My usual viewing time: about three minutes.

But in this online blog by O’Reilly, he really has something to say with which I agree: we need to be self-reliant. We need to depend on ourselves. Hooray!

As we have become addicted to machines, many of us have forgotten about nature. We must have gizmos. Sandy laughed and took them away. Power, gone. Internet, dark. Cellphones, not happening. Even your landline phone, not available, because “all circuits are busy.”

Suddenly, it’s 1850 with one exception: battery-operated flashlights and radios.

There is at least one lesson here. O’Reilly came up with two:

First: No government agency can help you when disaster strikes. Any assistance will be after the fact and painstakingly slow.

Second: In order to ride out any storm effectively, you should be self-reliant and resilient. That means you have to anticipate problems and have some solutions at the ready.

O’Reilly actually does what he preaches. He bought a generator before Sandy! But he apparently hadn’t

Bill O’Reilly Goes Off the Deep Left End

Doug Giles: O’Reilly is O’Really in Left Field on the Guns and Ammo Issue

O’Reilly: “Anyone who sells a heavy weapon or ammo should be compelled to report the sale to the FBI. It’s a felony if you don’t. That’s what we should have in the USA and it just makes sense in this age of terrorism. Right now some gun dealers do background checks but nobody reports the sale of heavy weapons like AK-47s to the feds. That’s insane.”

What’s really insane is O’Reilly’s ridiculous statement that people should be compelled to report the sale of a “heavy weapon.” O’Reilly has the annoying frequent tendency to promote a leftist “meme” while cloaked in conservative aura. But this really is too much.

Watch the video now.

First, what exactly is a “heavy weapon?” Is this an anti-tank gun or a 50 caliber machine gun? No. He refers instead to the AK-47, a semi-automatic (one shot per trigger squeeze) rifle that shoots the 7.62x39mm cartridge. This cartridge has the same “ballistic profile” as the common .30-30 Winchester round. Many manufacturers make this rifle but no one can buy it from a gun shop without a background check.

As a supposedly great researcher, O’Reilly certainly must know this. And yet he says “some gun dealers do background checks but nobody reports the sale of heavy weapons like AK-47s to the feds.” Sorry, Bill. Yes they do. Every purchaser must complete Federal Form 4473, which asks the purchaser about any criminal history and citizenship, and which also records the type, model number, manufacturer and serial number of the rifle being purchased. Every gun dealer is required to complete this form for every rifle purchased. If he fails to do so, he faces serious charges and perhaps some jail time. And, yes, Bill, this is a federal form. It goes to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives—the BAFTE—but you already know that, don’t you Bill?

And so why the misinformation, Bill? Since you no doubt know all this things, you must have an agenda. What is that agenda, Bill? Are you promoting the same line that gun-controllers are promoting—more, tighter, more invasive and restrictive rights to own guns? Is that your agenda, Bill?

Gee, and I thought you were a good “conservative.”
