Now that it’s official, Hillary’s campaign for president in 2016 will be subjected to intense scrutiny, especially from those with long memories. For the mainstream media, short memories work best. There will, in the popular press, be some hand wringing about various issues, Benghazi and her private emails leading the list.
For those who perceive a Clinton II presidency as a danger to the republic, the list will no doubt be much longer. It will include references to Hillary’s suspected involvement in the murder of Vince Foster, and especially the cover-up following it. There will be refreshers on Whitewater and the Rose Law Firm, which engaged in various financial chicaneries concerning Hillary. It will be remembered that for two years she couldn’t find the billing records, and then all of sudden they turned up. There will be relighting the fires under “filegate” where the Clinton White House somehow had access to hundreds of FBI background reports on former Republican employees in the White House. There will be questions raised once again about her amazingly lucky profits in cattle futures trading. And then there’s “travelgate,” and on and on.
It’s highly unlikely that any journos will remember a drifter by the name of Thomas Alfred Taylor and how Hillary Rodham (not yet Clinton), age 27, defended him as a court-appointed public service lawyer. The details came to light during five hours of interviews back in the early 1980s when Esquire planned on doing an in-depth report on the couple. The article never materialized, and the tapes were obtained by Newsday in 2008.
Taylor had seduced and repeatedly raped a black 6th grader back in 1975. Being indigent, he was provided a public defender. He wanted a female attorney. He got Hillary.
Taylor was guilty and Hillary knew it. But her job was to blow as much smoke and raise as much confusion and create as much obfuscation as possible, and she might just save him from 30 years in the pen. She had two strategies: enlist the help of an expert in forensics, and attack the credibility of the victim. As Newsday reported:
Two years into her career [as a lawyer], 27-year-old Hillary Rodham was appointed a public defender in a rape case [that she] played out deep in the gray areas of morality by attacking the 12-year-old victim’s credibility.
Though nobody involved in the case can recall a shred of evidence that the victim had any sort of history of making false claims, Hillary argued it as the centerpiece of her case anyway.
In her audiobook, Living History, published last June, Clinton failed to recall any such attempt to impugn the motives and integrity of a 6th-grader in order to get her client off, even though she knew he was guilty. As Newsday noted,
Rodham questioned the sixth grader’s honesty and claimed she had made false accusations [against others] in the past. She implied that the girl often fantasized and sought out “older men” like Taylor, according to a July 1975 affidavit [which was signed] “Hillary D. Rodham”….
Rodham added: “I have been informed that the complainant is emotionally unstable with a tendency to seek out older men and to engage in fantasizing. I have also been informed she has in the past made false accusations about persons claiming that they attacked her….”
When Newsday tracked down the victim, now 52, she was stunned at the charges, calling them lies. But in Hillary’s world, the end justifies the means.
Hillary caught a break. The forensics report on Taylor’s shorts containing blood and semen somehow got lost and Hillary pounced. Calling on an “expert” who was widely known for providing support for attorneys without evidence, she marched into the prosecutor’s office demanding a plea bargain. Suspecting that the “expert” would likely dismantle his case, the prosecutor settled, setting Taylor free after just two months behind bars. Hillary had no case, of course, but the prosecutor didn’t know it at the time. During the taped interview, Bill and Hillary laughed over how easily the prosecutor folded.
Daily Kos, a liberal website populated by bloggers eager to promote progressivism and the Democrat Party, found all of this just a little too much:
When Hillary signed that affidavit, she was giving a sworn oath that she had knowledge and evidence that the 6th grader had a history of making false charges. That’s what the affidavit says.
But nobody, including the victim who has no axe to grind, believes this has any truth….
That’s the difference between zealous defense and breaching ethical responsibility.
Engaging in fraud, deceit, perfidy, and unsourced claims, Hillary not only got a vicious rapist off with just a wrist slap, she also impugned the victim as well. For Hillary, this was a lesson well learned.
As Luke 8:17 states: “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” Such disclosure will only happen when sufficient efforts are made to expose it. It is hoped that during the digging into Hillary’s uniquely unsavory past some of this story will come to light. It will reveal the real Hillary once again.
