The AMA Reveals its Ultimate Goal: Disarming America

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Monday, June 18, 2018:

It wasn’t that long ago that the American Medical Association had a reasonable position on violence committed by criminals using a firearm: it proposed strict penalties on those using the weapons and not on the innocent law-abiding owners of firearms not involved in the commission of the crime:

That while the increasing number of homicides by use of handguns is a depressing reality, and there is little evidence that new Federal gun control legislation will ameliorate this situation (emphasis added), the American Medical Association urges the enactment of strict penalties for the use of firearms in the commission of crimes.

By the 1980s, the AMA had reversed itself and began supporting various gun control schemes that focused on the weaponry. In 1988, for example, the AMA called for a ban on the new polymer Glock pistols because they were allegedly undetectable by metal detectors. It also called on the Consumer Products Safety Commission to regulate the manufacture and sale of firearms as a precursor to shutting down the industry altogether.

In the 1990s, the AMA called for a seven-day waiting period for handgun purchases along with a ban on all semi-automatic rifles and hollow-point self-defense ammunition. In 1992 the AMA Journal called for a national “system of gun registration and licensing for gun owners and users.”

Now, however, the AMA’s ultimate goal has been revealed. Following its annual meeting in Chicago last week, the group proposed a laundry list of incursions into the precious rights of law-abiding gun owners that, if implemented, would ultimately disarm all American gun-owners.

AMA’s immediate Past President David O. Barbe, MD, started off by claiming that gun violence is a public health crisis:

People are dying of gun violence in our homes, churches, schools, on street corners, and at public gatherings, and it’s important that lawmakers, policy leaders and advocates on all sides seek common ground to address this public health crisis.

In emergency rooms across the country the carnage of gun violence has become a too routine experience.

Every day physicians are treating suicide victims, victims of domestic violence, and men and women simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. It doesn’t have to be this way, and we urge lawmakers to act.

Absent from Barbe’s “explanation” was any discussion of the number of victims being treated in emergency rooms across the country as a result of car crashes (more than 37,000 die in them every year), poisoning (more than 47,000 die every year due to overdoses), or unintentional falls (responsible for more than 33,000 deaths every year).

But that would have muddied the water. Instead the AMA’s House of Delegates (HOD) offered the following “solutions” to the “gun violence” problem: 1) expanding ERPOs (extreme risk protection orders) and GVROs (gun violence restraining orders) to include not only family members but household visitors and dating partners; 2) prohibiting anyone under a domestic violence restraining order or convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence crime or stalking from possessing a firearm; 3) those under such orders have their data entered into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System; and 4) demanding that every school in the country be a “gun free zone” while opposing any school board’s requirements or incentives of teachers to carry weapons on campus.

But the biggest expansion of previously recommended incursions into precious rights is this: delegates at the annual meeting supported banning “the sale and ownership to the public of all assault-type weapons, bump stocks and related devices, high-capacity magazines and armor-piercing bullets.” The AMA’s House of Delegates (HOD) went even further, demanding “the licensing of every owner of a firearm in the country, and the registration of every firearm owned in the country.”

Such registration is the final step towards gun confiscation. Potential tyrants from Hitler to Mao have known the danger of an armed citizenry:

The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. – Adolph Hitler

All political power comes from the barrel of a gun. The communist party must command all the guns. That way, no guns can ever be used to command the party. – Mao Tse Tung

No doubt remains any longer about the intent of the AMA’s list of “solutions” to “gun violence.” If implemented, those “solutions” would push the republic all the way down the road to a military-style police state dictatorship.

So much for “doing no harm.”

Trump Slaps Tariffs on $50 Billion of Chinese Goods

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Friday, June 15, 2018:

Following weeks of meetings with top Chinese officials that failed to produce ways to reduce the immense trade deficit suffered by the United States for years, President Donald Trump approved implementing tariffs on $50 billion of incoming Chinese goods “that contain industrially significant technologies.” These include Chinese products competing with U.S. aerospace, information and communications technology, robotics, industrial machinery, automobiles, and new materials industries.

The tariffs will be staged in, with tariffs on $34 billion of those products being collected by the Customs and Border Protection agency starting on July 6, while the remaining $16 billion will be delayed pending further review.

According to the Tax Foundation, these new tariffs, when completely implemented (and added to the tariffs already being imposed on incoming steel and aluminum), will lower the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) by an insignificant six one-hundreds of a percent, and potentially decrease employment by about 45,000 jobs.

What the president is doing is keeping more of his campaign promises. Here are some of his comments from various Twitter feeds and elsewhere:

Deep State Subversion: “A Murderer Is Less to Be Feared”

This article, written by my senior editor at The New American, Bill Jasper, is quite extraordinary. It appeared online on Monday. It also appears in the print issue of The New American to be published on May 21.

“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious, but it cannot survive treason from within,” the great Roman statesman Cicero opined before the Senate. That warning is as applicable today as it was 2,000 years ago.

In 1965, best-selling historical novelist Taylor Caldwell published her great work on Marcus Tullius Cicero, A Pillar of Iron. A central focus of her meticulously researched study was Cicero’s political combat with, and triumph over, the treasonous conspiracy led by Roman Senator Lucius Sergius Catilina, known in English as Catiline. While Rome’s wealthiest and ablest citizens timidly evaded their duties to defend the commonweal against the impending mortal danger, Cicero, the incomparable rhetoretician, aided by Cato the Younger, dauntlessly exposed and opposed the Catiline conspiracy, which had penetrated all levels of the government. Prominent senators and aristocrats in the conspiracy included Lentulus, Cethegus, Longinus, and Paetus.

“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious, but it cannot survive treason from within,” Caldwell records Cicero declaiming before the Senate, in A Pillar of Iron. “An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victim, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.”

Cicero called out Catiline and his prominent co-conspirators for precisely what they were: traitors, subversives, infectious corrupters, a “plague” — worse even than murderers. The traitor, said Cicero, “rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the plague.” (Emphasis added.)

A Catilinarian plague, of which Cicero warned, is now upon us! The conspiracy we face, however, is larger, more powerful, more sophisticated, more deadly, and more deeply laid than that faced by Cicero, Cato, and their fellow Romans. This conspiracy did not spring up overnight. It did not begin last year, in opposition to President Trump, although its virulent opposition to President Trump has made its existence and operations much more visibly obvious. No, the “Deep State” conspiracy of which we speak goes back many decades, long before the term “Deep State” was coined to signify the shadowy, self-perpetuating cabal that constitutes the permanent ruling class in the bowels of our government.

Taylor Caldwell was well aware of this conspiracy, which she described as “Force X” in a 1963 article by that title for American Opinion, the predecessor magazine of The New American. This was during the height of the Cold War, when Nikita Khrushchev, Mao Tse-tung, Fidel Castro, and many other communist dictators were spreading hate, death, destruction, terror, and totalitarian misery across the entire planet. However, Caldwell recognized that, as with Catiline’s conspiracy in Cicero’s time, the strength of the communist conspiracy came largely from the secret assistance it could count on from highly placed individuals in American society and in the U.S. government, particularly in the large tax-exempt foundations, the news media, the State Department, and the Central Intelligence Agency. These and other critical instruments of governance and propaganda had been gradually taken over by the organized globalists, more commonly known in that era as “one-worlders,” advocates of world government, which they commonly refer to as their “new world order.” The organization that served as the chief front for the one-world coterie, and that effected many of its designs, was (and is) the Council on Foreign Relations, which Caldwell exposed in her 1972 novel Captains and the Kings under the fictional names of the Committee for Foreign Studies and the Scardo Society.

Over the past year, we have witnessed an incredible stream of Catilinarian traitors engaging in an ever more brazen and transparent conspiracy against the rule of law and our entire moral and constitutional order. The unprecedented attacks by the globalists’ minions heading our intelligence agencies against the elected president, Donald Trump, are breathtakingly audacious. Never before has this nation seen the heads of the Department of Justice, CIA, FBI, NSA, and other apparatuses of the “Force X” surveillance state engage in such open, blatant warfare against the nation they claim to serve. After being kicked out of their Deep State perches, John Brennan, James Clapper, and dozens of their “Intelligence Community” confederates have been rewarded with lucrative posts as “expert” commentators at CNN, NBC, CBS, and other controlled media platforms, from which they are continuing their treasonous attacks.

“In heaven’s name, men,” Cato appealed to his fellow Romans, “wake up while there is still time and lend a hand to defend the Republic. It is … our liberty and lives that are at stake.” Cato’s urgent appeal rings down through the ages to our present day. We dare not fail to respond.

More Than 62 Million Americans Now Receive Social Security Benefits

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Wednesday, May 9, 2018:

According to the Social Security Administration, more than 62 million Americans are now receiving benefits from the program. That’s an increase of 330,318 in just the last three months. Doing the math, that means at the current rate of increase, every month 110,000 more people on average are receiving benefits than the previous month, increasing the demand for those benefits by $150 million every month. That’s based on the average check being received, according to the trustees, of $1,360 every month.

And this from a program that is using up its assets faster than they are being replenished through payroll taxes. Just how long can this last?

When Social Security became law, Section 709 was written in anticipation for times like these. When assets dwindled to less than 20 percent of the program’s total annual payouts, the trustees were to inform Congress: “If the Board of Trustees … determines at any time that the balance ratio [assets versus annual payouts] … for any calendar year may become less that 20 percent, the Board shall promptly submit to each House of the Congress a report setting forth its recommendations for statutory adjustments … to maintain the balance ratio … at not less than 20 percent.”

This is recognition from the very beginning that Social Security was unsustainable and that “statutory adjustments” would have to be made from time to time to keep the program from going bankrupt.

The letter the trustees sent to both Houses of Congress last July was very explicit: “The projected reserves expressed as a percentage of annual program cost [the balance ratio] of the DI [Disability Insurance] Trust Fund will fall below 20 percent for calendar year 2026 based on … our assumptions.”

Right behind the DI Trust Fund is the Old Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) Trust Fund, which trustees estimate will run out of money before 2035. Naturally, the trustees recommended an increase in the payroll tax or a reduction of benefits, or a combination of both.

In its summary statement on the dreadful condition of the program made public, the trustees were equally candid: “Both Social Security and Medicare face long-term financing shortfalls … due to rapid population aging caused by the large baby-boom generation entering retirement and lower birth-rate generations entering employment.”

That combination is the death knell for any Ponzi scheme, even one such as Social Security that had to be forced onto a recalcitrant populous for their own good. But the trustees were opaque when it came to telling the public just how deep in the hole the program really is. It descended into statistical obfuscation to hide the real number.

The real number had to come from a college professor who has spent most of his professional life analyzing the maze of Social Security and trying to make sense of it: Boston University Professor Laurence Kotlikoff. A research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and formerly on President Ronald Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisors, Kotlikoff used his conclusions about Social Security as one of his platforms when he ran as a write-in candidate for the presidency in 2016:

The system is in horrible financial shape. Its fiscal gap — the present value of its projected future benefit commitments net of both its projected future taxes and the value of his trust fund — is $26 trillion….

Social Security is 31 percent underfunded.

[That’s] another way of saying that Social Security’s 12.4 percent FICA payroll tax rate needs to rise, immediately and permanently, by almost one third to permit the system to pay all of its promised benefits over time.

Remember, now, this is a college professor running for political office! He admitted as much that “telling the vast majority of American workers they need to fork over another 4 percent of their pay for the rest of their working lives and receive absolutely nothing in return is not something our politicians have been eager to do.”

Perhaps that’s a good indicator of just how likely Congress is likely to do anything substantial about Social Security before 2026.

Trump’s Attack on Syria vs. the (Ignored) Constitution

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Sunday, April 15, 2018:

While the U.S. attack against Syria was underway, President Donald Trump told the nation Friday night: “A short time ago, I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. A combined operation with the armed forces of France and the United Kingdom is now under way. We thank them both…. Last Saturday [April 7], the Assad regime again deployed chemical weapons to slaughter innocent civilians, this time in the town of Douma near the Syrian capital of Damascus. This massacre was a significant escalation in a pattern of chemical weapons used by that very terrible regime..”

This was a far cry from the Donald Trump before he became president. Here are just three of his tweets BP (before becoming president):

What if “Theoretical” Becomes “Actual” in Deerfield, Illinois?

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Monday, April 9, 2018:

Deerfield, Illinois is a pleasant little town about 25 miles north of Chicago, a few miles west of Lake Michigan and just off Interstate 94. Temperatures are pleasant, registering average highs of 85 in the summer and in the low 20s in the winter. Its population hasn’t changed much in the last ten years, as the town and environs have gained and lost businesses over those years. It’s currently home to Walgreens Boots, Baxter Healthcare, Consumers Digest, and Caterpillar. It used to be headquarters of the Sara Lee Corporation but that closed down in 1990 and the company sold its land to developers.

There are about 20,000 people living there, in an estimated 6,420 households (which datum will be important later on in this article). The local government consists of a mayor and a board of trustees. It considers itself a village, and is represented in the House of Representatives by Democrat Brad Schneider, whose Freedom Index is a treasonous 16 out of 100.

That should explain why the mayor, Harriet Rosenthal, and the board of trustees decided it would do its bit in fighting violent crime and mass shootings: inflict pain on its law-abiding citizens through one of the most draconian and tyrannical pieces of anti-gun legislation to come down the pike in some time. As the Chicago Tribune explained:

Christ’s Resurrection: The Historical Record

Jesus rose from the dead. That is certainly the primary belief that propelled the spread of the Christian faith across the Roman Empire, inspiring thousands who persisted in that belief in the face of either a martyr’s death or loss of fortune or even family. Had these early Christians not believed in the resurrection of Jesus, it is almost certain that Christianity would not exist today, because it would never have existed at all.

So, why did the early disciples of Jesus Christ believe in His resurrection? Is the resurrection of Jesus historical?

When historians attempt to determine what happened in the ancient world, they must rely on what we call legal-historical proof. In the study of history and in the courtroom, we examine evidence and draw conclusions. While we can no longer cross-examine the eye witnesses who assert they saw the resurrected Christ, we can look at the character of those witnesses. Based upon the evidence that is available, we can certainly draw some reasonable conclusions.

In First Corinthians chapter 15, verses 3-7, the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth what was apparently an early creed, or statement of belief, on this very subject.

Bull Market in Stocks Remains in Place: Dow Theory

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Friday, March 23, 2018:

Thursday’s selloff on Wall Street pushed the S&P 500 Index (which tracks the price performance of the stocks of 500 of America’s largest companies) into negative territory. All four of the widely-watched indexes — the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), the S&P 500 Index (SPX), the Nasdaq Composite Index (COMP), and the Russell 2000 Index (RUT) — dropped the most on Thursday since February 8.

Dow Theory followers were more focused on the Dow Jones Transportation Average (DJT), as it came perilously close to triggering the last of three indicators needed to declare that the Bull Market in stocks is over.

Ironically, the Dow Theory, developed by Charles Dow, the founder and first editor of the Wall Street Journal and co-founder of Dow Jones and Company, was never used by him to trade stocks. But followers of his theory are legion, which could spell trouble

Globalist Insider Peter Sutherland Leaves Interventionist Legacy

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Monday, January 15, 2018:

The death on January 7 of Peter Sutherland, 71, the “father of globalization” (a moniker applied to him by President Clinton’s secretary of commerce) leaves a hole in the broad plan by globalists to use free trade as a cover for the completion of the New World Order to be run by them. Ireland’s Prime Minister Leo Varadkar declared that Sutherland was somehow strangely a tripartite loyalist: “an Irishman, a committed European, and a proud internationalist.” Varadkar said nothing about how Sutherland used his divided loyalties to build international trade agreements that led to significant abrogation of Ireland’s national sovereignty.

European Commission (EC) President Jean-Claude Juncker was clearer,

With the horse-trading for votes completed, the Senate voted early Saturday morning along party lines to pass the tax-reform bill Republicans desperately need to help them during mid-term elections next year. Trump exhibited his usual hyperbole over the passage, tweeting at 5:45 a.m. Saturday morning: “Biggest Tax Bill and Tax Cuts in history just passed in the Senate. Now these great Republicans will be going for final passage [conference]. Thank you to House and Senate Republicans for your hard work and commitment.”

Liberal-left Oregon Democrat Senator Jeff Markley (Freedom Index of just 14 out of 100) saw the writing on the wall and commented just before midnight Friday that the pending vote and the resulting bill was rigged in favor of the rich and powerful:

Are Anti-gun Democrats Just Plain Dumb, or Dumb Like Foxes?

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Wednesday, October 4, 2017:

Irving Fisher (1867–1947)

Supporters of the Second Amendment typically blow off proposals offered by anti-gun politicians to solve gun violence like that in Las Vegas on Sunday as insanity: doing more and more of the same thing that hasn’t worked in the past but expecting it to work in the future. Albert Einstein was much more elegant: he said insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Some would claim that Democrats in general are lacking in mental acuity, with bumper stickers expressing the opinion that they are “stuck on stupid” or “You can’t fix stupid” and the like.

But what if they aren’t? What if they have a much longer view of history and their fight to subvert the United States and change the whole country into a gun-free zone?

Trump Doesn’t Rule Out Use of Military Force in Venezuela

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Monday, August 14, 2017:

Following the issuance of the “Lima Declaration” on Friday stating that “Venezuela is no longer a democracy,” signed by nearly a dozen South American countries as well as Canada, President Trump had the opportunity to back off on previous threats of possibly using military force to oust its Marxist dictator Nicolás Maduro. Instead he ramped them up, declaring: “We have many options.… This is our neighbor. We are all over the world and we have troops all over the world in places that are very, very far away. Venezuela is not very far away and the people … are suffering. They’re dying. We have many options for Venezuela including a possible military option, if necessary…. I’m not going to rule out a military option. Venezuela is a mess.”

But as Henri Falcon, the opposition governor of the Venezuelan state of Lara, responded, “This mess is ours! Sort out your own, of which you have plenty.”

Mish Shedlock, a Trump supporter, asked the president a number of questions about why he is threatening Venezuela:

Nicolas Maduro, the communist thug who now rules Venezuela

Following the typical historical pattern of socialist takeovers, the Venezuelan National Constituent Assembly (NCA) replaced the duly elected National Assembly on Friday, opening the ceremony with a speech from a Cuban communist guerrilla, followed by a speech reflecting a total disconnect from reality, and ending with giving the boot to a former Chavista who has in recent months become an embarrassment.

Reiterating the theme that the United States, and especially President Donald Trump, is responsible for Venezuela’s troubles, Fernando Soto Rojas, a Cuban-trained guerilla, opened the meeting of the NCA, shouting, “Yankee imperialism has not been able to stop the march of the people!”

The NCA then appointed Maduro’s foreign minister Delcy Rodriguez as head of the new body. Her total disconnect from reality was exposed by her claim that

Why Can’t ObamaCare be Repealed?

For more than six years Republicans have promised that, given the chance, they would repeal the odious, expensive, and unconstitutional healthcare takeover called ObamaCare. Seven times they have voted to repeal it, knowing that then-President Obama, its primary promulgator and author, would veto it.

But voters believed them and when Trump beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in November, it was going to be a shoo-in: full and total repeal at the top of the list. At least that’s what Rep. Mo Brooks, a Republican from Alabama, thought. So he prepared a bill: simple, straightforward, two sentences long:

Democrats Used Discredited Dossier Against Trump

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Friday, July 14, 2017:

The ripple effect from the publishing in January by far-left BuzzFeed of the phony, discredited “Trump Dossier” written by anti-Trump British MI6 agent Christopher Steele is still being felt. As a result of a London lawsuit against Steele, the former British spy was forced to admit that his information, which was obtained from various unnamed Kremlin sources, was never verified as accurate. But that hasn’t deterred Democrats determined to harm or destroy the Trump presidency from using it as fodder for their attacks.

Steele, a confirmed socialist, wrote a series of memos about information he said he had gleaned from various “Kremlin insiders,” a “trusted compatriot,” “former top level Russian intelligence officers still active inside the Kremlin,” and two other unnamed sources he referred to as “sources A and B.” But Steele stumbled when, in memo #16, he claimed that members of the Russian spy service FSB were to meet with one of Trump’s people in a conspiracy to defame Hillary Clinton. Wrote Steele:
