Have nothing to do with the [evil] things that people do, things that belong to the darkness. Instead, bring them out to the light... [For] when all things are brought out into the light, then their true nature is clearly revealed...

Frustrated Trump Attacks “ObamaCare Nightmare” via Executive Order

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Thursday, October 12, 2017:

Increasingly frustrated over Congress’ inability or unwillingness to dismantle ObamaCare, President Trump tweeted earlier this week, “Since Congress can’t get its act together on HealthCare, I will be using the power of the pen to give great HealthCare to many people — FAST”; and now he has.

Of course the president cannot “give” anything to someone that hasn’t been taken from someone else, but other than that, the president is heading in the right direction. Leaks concerning his executive order, which he signed on Thursday, were confirmed: His order points to less government intervention and more individual freedom.

Calling the present Affordable Care Act an “Obamacare Nightmare,” Trump said his alternative is better:

Unwinding ObamaCare

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Friday, October 13, 2017:

Those in the freedom fight know how to get rid of unnecessary, unconstitutional programs: starve them and/or let the free market compete against them. Either way, they’re done for. President Trump’s Executive Order issued on Thursday does both.

That’s why his order was so much more than just allowing the free market to operate in providing healthcare coverages. It set a pattern for further rescissions and reductions of other unnecessary and anti-freedom government programs. What President Trump said was music to the ears of those committed to free market principles and who have been fighting for years to see a day like Thursday arrive and hear a president say the following:

NRA’s Surprising Capitulation on Gun Regulations Met With Outrage

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Friday, October 6, 2017:

The NRA is widely regarded as a staunch defender of the Second Amendment. Its capitulation on so-called “bump fire stocks” shows otherwise.

The statement from the National Rifle Association (NRA) issued on Thursday was carefully crafted to make it appear that the NRA remained a staunch defender of gun rights while it simultaneously promoted further breaches of those same rights. The statement was divided into three parts:

Pro-gun Victory: D.C. Decides Not to Appeal Concealed Carry Ruling to Supreme Court

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Thursday, October 5, 2017:

Effective Thursday, residents of the nation’s capital seeking a concealed carry permit won’t have to show a “good or proper reason” to obtain it. That’s because anti-gun politicians on Washington, D.C.’s council think it’s too risky for them to take their case to the Supreme Court, considering the current political climate there. If they appeal the ruling handed down in July and the Supremes sustain it, it would likely apply not only to their district, but also to other states that have imposed similar restrictions on their citizens.

D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine noted the risks of an appeal going against it:

his article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Wednesday, October 4, 2017:

When House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was asked on Tuesday about the status of the “suppressor” legislation (Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act), which had passed a House committee last month and was headed for a vote on the floor, Ryan was disingenuous: “That bill is not scheduled now. I don’t know when it’s going to be scheduled.” Ryan’s response was disingenuous because, as speaker of the house, he is the one responsible for scheduling such votes.

RINO Representative Chris Collins (a Republican from New York with a Freedom Index rating of just 53 out of 100), agreed: “I think it is safe to say in our Republican conference, you are not going to see those bills [the ‘suppressor’ bill or the national reciprocity bill] moving forward.”

When pressed, the president himself said that that conversation will be delayed for the time being: “We’ll be talking about gun laws as time goes by.” Trump’s press secretary, Sarah Sanders, made the point even clearer:

Gunmakers’ Stock Prices Continue to Rise Following Las Vegas Massacre

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Tuesday, October 3, 2017:

After the Las Vegas massacre on Sunday night, the stock prices of gunmakers rose two to three percent on Monday. Following the noisy threats of more gun controls by anti-gun politicians, those stocks have continued to rise on Tuesday. Since the close of business last Friday, for example, the stock price of Sturm Ruger & Co. has jumped by 6.3 percent, while American Outdoor Brands Corp. (which owns Smith & Wesson) is trading seven-percent higher. The stock price of Vista Outdoor Inc., the conglomerate with ownership of ammunition makers American Eagle, Blazer, and Federal Premium, as well as gunmakers Savage Arms and Stevens Arms, is trading 3.5 percent ahead of Friday’s closing price.

The simple explanation for this was expressed by Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics:

CBS Exec Fired for Facebook Post Following Las Vegas Strip Shooting

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Monday, October 2, 2017:

Following Sunday night’s shooting on the Las Vegas Strip in which 58 were killed and 515 injured, CBS‘s Vice President Hayley Geftman-Gold posted on Facebook: “If they [Republican lawmakers] wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered [at Sandy Hook] I have no hope that Repubs will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [because] country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”

Not a Single Shooting Following Campus-carry Freedom in Texas Last Year

Somehow, more than 53,000 students attending Texas public universities have managed to make it through the first year of concealed-carry on campus without murdering each other. Heaven knows that if there had been even one shooting incident, the anti-gun media would not only have put it on the front page of every newspaper in the country but would have made it the lead story on the six-o’clock news.

Instead, the Denton Record-Chronicle had to ask the University of North Texas Police Chief if there had been any shooting incidents among UNT’s 38,000 students since the campus-carry law became effective last year. Said the chief:

Congressional Democrat Takes a Knee to Protest Trump

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Tuesday, September 26, 2017:

Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), who represents the liberal 18th Congressional District in central Houston, took a knee on the House floor on Monday. She claimed she was protesting the president’s calling for the firing of NFL players who refused to stand during the playing of the national anthem. She claimed she was in “solidarity” with them, and called the president’s comments “racist.”

Lee does that. A lot. To Lee, who is black, nearly everything that anyone does is racist, or can be twisted into making it sound racist. Lee has made a fool of herself ever since she was elected to the House in 1994 and immediately joined both the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Here’s what the president said that provided Lee with the opportunity. He was speaking at a political rally on Friday:

Washington Post’s Credibility Takes Another Hit

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Monday, September 25, 2017:

Two recent polls show once again that the mainstream media’s attempt to influence the news isn’t working. For years Gallup has been tracking their cratering of credibility, noting last September  that “Americans’ trust and confidence in the mass media ‘to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly’ has dropped to its lowest level in Gallup polling history, with [just] 32% saying they have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media. This is down eight percentage points from last year.”

Gallup’s conclusions were backed up by a more recent poll conducted by Harvard-Harris in May this year which learned that

If Socialism Is the Problem in Venezuela, More Sanctions Are Not the Solution

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Wednesday, September 20, 2017:

Overshadowed by his remarks concerning North Korea’s “Rocket Man” and the “worst ever” Iranian nuclear deal, President Donald Trump’s views on Venezuela in his speech at the United Nations on Tuesday were soft-pedalled by the mainstream media.

But they were spot on:

The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented but that socialism has been faithfully implemented. From the Soviet Union to Cuba, Venezuela — wherever socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish, devastation and failure.

Those who preach the tenets of these discredited ideologies only contribute to the continued suffering of the people who live under these cruel systems

Trump then added, without being explicit:

Persistence is Paying Off in Gun Shop’s Fight with Chicago

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Friday, September 1, 2017:

The Miniature Bull Terrier Club of America (MBTCA)’s website suggests that owners looking for a dog that is compliant and easily trained “would probably be better off with a [different] breed.” The average MBT is “persistent,” “stubborn,” “independent,” “doesn’t listen,” “bold and confident,” and “foolish to the point of self-destruction.”

Enter Alan Gottlieb, the founder and Executive Vice President of the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF). On the surface Gottlieb is presentable as a normal, well-behaved, articulate defender of the Second Amendment. His organization that began in 1974 now has more than 650,000 members, of which this writer is one. But put him into the same ring as Mayor Richard Daley or Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, and he becomes an MBT.

One of many examples surfaced on Wednesday when

Federal Judge Refuses Chicago’s Request to Dismiss Long-running Gun Shop Suit Against it

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Thursday, August 31, 2017:

In a long-running lawsuit that should be testing the limits of the patience of the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), U.S. District Court Judge Robert Dow on Wednesday denied the city’s latest request to dismiss the case, and set September 28 as the next date to discuss the amount of damages Chicago owes to the long-suffering plaintiff.

A measure of the intransigence of mayors of Chicago Richard Daley and Rahm Emanuel is

Trump’s Pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio Sends a Message: There’s a New Sheriff in Town

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Monday, August 28, 2017:

Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio

There’s little doubt that sheriffs in counties on or near the country’s southern border have been watching, and waiting, for a signal from the Trump administration about its views on enforcing immigration laws. Those would especially include those who consider themselves “constitutional” sheriffs.

That signal arrived late Friday with President Trump’s pardon of Maricopa County Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Before Friday, all those sheriffs had to go on was hope – hope that they wouldn’t be targeted for enforcing the law the way Arpaio was. Now they can rest easier knowing they have a friend in the White House and not an enemy. And the net effect will be stronger enforcement of the country’s immigration laws.

For Arpaio it was a long-awaited victory over the Obama administration. For the citizens of the United States it is also a victory over illegals committing crimes without consequences.

Mississippi’s Second Amendment Sales Tax Free Weekend: “Bigger than Black Friday”

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Friday, August 25, 2017:

According to Todd Sarotte, the manager of Van’s Sporting Goods in Brandon, Mississippi, this weekend’s Second Amendment celebration — firearms and related accessories are exempt from the state’s 7 percent sales tax through midnight Sunday —  is the biggest of the year for him: “It’s actually bigger for us than Black Friday. It’s grown every year, and for the last two years it’s been bigger than Black Friday for us.”

The exemption saves a buyer of a Glock semi-automatic pistol nearly $40 while a purchaser of a Stag Arms Model 3 Typhoon AR-15 saves more than

Seal of the United States Internal Revenue Service.

The IRS ignored a report issued in December 2014 by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) that revealed that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was rehiring people it had previously fired for misconduct. That misconduct included failure to file and pay their own income taxes, falsifying documents, and theft of and illegal use of sensitive taxpayer information. What’s to keep the IRS from ignoring that report’s update, released in late July?

The latest report from the TIGTA scorned the IRS for continuing the practice:

Concealed Carry Permits Hit New All-time High

This article appeared online at TheNewAmerican.com on Tuesday, August 22, 2017:

The latest report from the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) shows that not only did nearly two million more Americans obtain their concealed carry permits in 2016 — a new record for the fourth year in a row — but that brings the total to more than 16.3 million U.S. citizens with permits. That’s up from 4.5 million just a decade ago, and means that, on average, one in every 20 American citizens has a concealed carry permit.

Most of the growth is taking place among women and minorities, partly because of concerns about personal safety and partly because of the paradigm shift in favor of the Second Amendment that has been taking place in the United States. Said John Lott, the founder of CPRC and its chief researcher,

Questions for President Trump on Venezuela

This article was published by The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor on Wednesday, August 16, 2018:

State flag of Venezuela.

State flag of Venezuela.

Inquiring minds are asking: what on earth is the US doing meddling in the affairs of Venezuela? The media has broadcast the rolling and accelerating disaster taking place there, with some even properly blaming it on socialist practices unleased by Marxist Hugo Chavez (they are called “Chavism” and its supporters are called “Chavists”) and his protégé, Nicolas Maduro.

Those policies, enforced with increasing vengeance upon a powerless citizenry, have all but destroyed a country that once was one of the most prosperous in South America.

Grant the point. But does this justify in any way U.S. interference? Does it justify sanctions, freezing of assets of Maduro and his henchmen, and removing the freedom of Americans to do business with him, or them? Notice please that the sanctions only apply to about 30 of Maduro’s people and not to any of the 20 or so American oil refineries currently supporting Maduro’s Marxist regime to the tune of a billion dollars a month.

Texas Instructor Protests Campus Carry by Wearing Helmet and Body Armor to Class

Rather than resigning or noisily transferring to another, more “enlightened” school, or filing a frivolous lawsuit, geography instructor Charles K. His foolishness made the papers, and he took full advantage of the publicity, claiming the new law somehow puts him at risk:
